Monthly roundup – 7 extraordinary November blog posts

November has come to an end and it’s time for my monthly roundup of favourite blog posts from last month. The blogging community was on fire in November with some fabulous and thought-provoking content. Today’s post features seven extraordinary November blog posts that you really must read.

This monthly roundup is my way of saying thank you to the blogging community, and highlighting some of my favourite bloggers who regularly put out funny, inspiring and informative content.

Please take a few minutes to read these posts. I’m sure you’ll love them. And don’t forget to explore some of the other content from these bloggers and give them a follow.

Coming up on Boomer Eco Crusader in December

As you’ve probably noticed, I’m diving in and doing Blogmas again this year—in fact, we’re about a quarter of the way through already. I’ve got some fun and informative posts coming up that I hope you’ll enjoy. I’m also excited to be wrapping up the last couple of tasks in the 52-Week Decluttering Challenge. I’ll close out the year with a look back at my blogging highlights of 2021.

Without further ado, here are my top blog post picks from November.

Your ultimate sustainable gift guide for the holidays – A Sustainably Simple Life

If you’ve still got shopping to do, check out this post from Krista and Alison. It’s full of excellent ideas, that are sustainable too!

In a world of so much disposable stuff, we’re sharing a sustainable gift guide to spark some eco-friendly gift ideas.

How to deal with climate anxiety on a budget – The Twenty Percent

With daily headlines about the COP26 climate summit, it’s hard to ignore the impact of climate change on our lives. In this post, Katie provides some suggestions for small, budget-friendly changes we can all make that collectively will make a difference.

Yes, 100 companies are responsible for roughly 70% of harmful emissions. But I don’t buy the argument that this absolves personal responsibility.

Why I banned my 5-year-old from saying this word – Crispy Confessions

What is this word that Helen has banned from her 5-year-old daughter’s vocabulary? It’s one many of us say every day.

Why is it powerful? Because this one word can either influence whether you win, or not. This one word dictates how you will ultimately perform.

Women spend six weeks working for free—don’t get caught out – The Twenty Percent

I don’t think I’ve ever featured two posts from the same blogger in my monthly roundup before but Katie was on fire this month. In this post, she looks at the implications of the gender pay gap—why it exists and what we can do about it.

For us to reach true equality as a society, women need to be in a less financially precarious situation.

(Michelle’s note: Here in Canada, women earn 89 cents for every dollar earned by men, meaning Canadian women are also working for free about six weeks of the year.)

Thanks for coming everyone – Tom’s Tales of Woe

COP26 is in the books and, thanks to the media’s collective short attention span, we seem to have moved on and forgotten about it. In this thoughtful post, Tom provides an excellent summary of his thoughts on COP26.

Distraction and greenwashing continues to dominate proceedings. The greatest polluters on earth are holding themselves to self-designated metrics and delivering the absolute bare minimum, whilst trumpeting their own supposed achievements.

Things that hit differently when you become an adult – Growing with Spawn

Shelly is back in the roundup this month with a humorous, wise and thoughtful look at adulting—and how things we took for granted when we were younger gain importance amid the chaos of life, work and parenting.

If you’re heading into this parenting phase of your life, good luck. If you are working a full-time job, God be with you. And if you don’t have a trust fund waiting to be spent, may the forces be with you.

The ultimate minimalist holiday gift guide – mind.beauty.simplicity

Christmas can be a challenge if you have people on your shopping list who are focusing on simplicity and decluttering. This post is full of excellent ideas for the declutterers, minimalists and essentialists on your list.

The act of gift giving is a way to show appreciation & this time of year is one of the hallmark times to express this love language. The big question is, what do you buy someone who is living a ‘less is more’ mentality?
