As we wrap up another year, I took some time to look back at my writing activity over the last 12 months. Read on for a summary of my blog activity and other 2025 writing highlights, and a sneak peek at what’s coming in 2026.
Summary of my blog activity in 2025
Now that I’m into my seventh year of blogging here on Boomer Eco Crusader, I feel like I’m in a decent groove. Here’s what I did on the blog this year.
- Published 108 new blog posts.
- Published 12 Throwback Thursday posts.
- Republished 25 posts from previous years.
- Updated and refreshed all my posts from 2022.
- Published 15 new blog posts on my retirement coaching site, Second Life Vision.
Although I don’t put too much emphasis on stats, it’s always interesting to look at them. After a dip in 2024, blog views were up over 14% compared to last year. And in the last couple of days of the year, my views for the full year snuck past my previous all-time yearly high from 2023. Along the way, my number of subscribers grew by 13%.
Even more interesting than the numbers is how people find my blog, and where they are located. Search engines represent about one-third of my blog views, followed by Pinterest and the WordPress Reader. As far as countries go, the United States tops the list of readers, followed by Canada, China, India and the United Kingdom.

2025 writing highlights
Numbers aside, here are some of my 2025 writing highlights.
- The Sunday Spark posts continue to be fun to write, and I love the engagement the series generates.
- The Climate Change Collective inspired interesting food for thought throughout the year. Due to some changes in the group, we are wrapping up the series at the end of this year. I’m grateful for the collaboration and so impressed by the content we published over the past three and a half years.
- After writing my first ever poem in 2023, I wrote three poems in 2025. I’m not sure I’ll ever truly be a poet, but occasionally the inspiration strikes! Here are my three poems if you missed them:
- Although not blog related, one of my big goals for 2025 was to write and document my life story. I completed it and printed it as a photo book for my daughters for Christmas.
- Last but not least, the engagement and community we have here on WordPress continues to be a source of inspiration and support, and a daily reminder of the good that exists in the world.

Favourite posts of the year
Picking my favourite posts of the year always feels like choosing my favourite child. From a quick review of everything I wrote, here are my top 5:
- How you can fight back against planned obsolescence
- How sustainable living helps in uncertain economic times
- August is National Immunization Awareness Month
- The Sunday Spark – Why is The Rainbow Fish so controversial?
- The Sunday Spark – Woke is not a 4-letter word
Coming up in 2026
I mentioned earlier that I feel like I’m in a decent groove, so I won’t be making any major changes in 2026. Here are my plans for the coming year:
- Continue to post new content twice a week on Boomer Eco Crusader. The Sunday Spark will continue with a few changes, along with my Tuesday posts. And I’ll continue to highlight older posts on Throwback Thursday.
- Post twice a month on my retirement coaching site, Second Life Vision.
- Refresh the theme for my blog website. I had this on my list in 2025, but didn’t get to it, so I’ll keep this on the list for 2026.
- Review and refresh my 2023 blog posts.
- Write my chapter for the upcoming Retirement Coaches Association book. It’s about a subject near and dear to my heart—decluttering.
- And there might just be a follow up to my life story. Mom’s Little Book of Wisdom is the working title I have in mind.
Thanks to each of you for reading and engaging with my blog in 2025. And a big thank you to the blogging community for your support and inspiration during the year. I look forward to more of the same in 2026.

Thanks Layla. There are a lot of old posts, so I try to update 2 or 3 a week.
It’s inspiring how productive you are, Michelle. Good luck with your 2026 goals!
Thanks, Ab. It’s always interesting to look back at the end of the year.
Best wishes for a great 2026. I am glad to hear you are keeping the Sunday Spark, I love reading it each week.
Thank you. Best wishes to you for the new year, too! I appreciate you reading and engaging with my blog posts.
Love the way you turned your memoir into a photo book for your girls Michelle! I haven’t written anything on the family blog (which is my ‘story for the kids’ area so perhaps I need to get back there and document some of the story and feelings behind the big move and it’s impact this year.
Thanks Deb. I really enjoyed writing the memoir and it brought back a lot of memories for me. The girls loved it. It’s so important to capture these stories.
Congrats to a great blog year!!
Thanks LA!
