Inspiring reads in my October 2025 blog roundup

November is here and I can’t say I’m excited to welcome the darkest and dreariest month of the year. Along with a summary of my writing activity last month, my October 2025 blog roundup has terrific posts on rethinking the meaning of legacy, questioning our progress, and breaking the overthinking cycle.

Happy reading!

Cool things I read in October

Since publishing my first monthly roundup at the end of 2020, it has been an honour to introduce you to some of my favourite bloggers. I started the roundup to say thank you to the blogging community and bring attention to talented writers who create inspiring and informative content.

Here are 3 pieces that captured my attention in October.

Rethinking Legacy – What I Want to Leave Behind – Existential Ergonomics

I read this terrific post right after seeing a talk on legacy at the Retirement Coaches Association conference. Erin shares that legacy is not about things that society typically values, but about how we want to be remembered after we’re gone.

I now understand what truly matters. I want to live in a way that my future children can be proud of. I want to live a life grounded in love and integrity rather than ambition or wealth. I would willingly forgo accolades to be someone they admire and respect.

Our Questionable Progress – Dr. Gerald Stein

It’s no secret that the pace of life is frenetic and many in our world are struggling to find peace. As I read Dr. Stein’s essay questioning much of what we call progress, I found myself nodding my head a lot.

Do yourself a favour. Make a cup of tea or coffee. Find a quiet spot and take 10 minutes to slowly read Dr. Stein’s brilliant post and let the words sink in. Then, think about how you can use this information in your life.

There are so many nuggets of wisdom in this post, it was hard to pick out a single quote. Here are three to give you a taste:

The days of cow bells or buzzers to signal the start and end of the workday are long past. Sunrise and sunset suggest the time, but not your work schedule.

Many people are held hostage by their phones, drawn by the camera or a person on a call rather than the people nearby.

Success, I repeat, or call it wage-slavery, as you wish. Evaluate its importance and the cost in human terms, and the gain or loss in joy.

The Overthinking Cycle: How To Break Free From Rumination – Unwanted Life

If you’re guilty of overthinking (and who isn’t), this terrific post contains helpful tips on how to recognize overthinking and strategies to overcome it.

What matters is how overthinking is harmful to our wellbeing and quality of life. When we overthink, we can quickly find ourselves trapped in a spiral of negative thinking.
