Will you be decluttering in 2024? I will and I hope you’ll join me! Starting next week, I’ll revisit my popular 52-Week Decluttering Challenge, where I focus on a different area of my home every week for a year.
If you’re new to Boomer Eco Crusader, you may not be familiar with the 52-Week Decluttering Challenge challenge. In 2021, I went through every area of my home and cleared out the junk that had accumulated over 30 years. To hold myself accountable, I wrote a weekly blog post summarizing my results, tips and learnings.
Over the course of the year, I decluttered 3,379 items. You can read about my wins and learnings in Looking back on a year of decluttering.
Rebooting the 52-Week Decluttering Challenge in 2024
After wrapping up the challenge, I resolved to stay on top of the clutter by reducing my consumption and refusing to buy stuff I don’t need.
It has been three years, so it’s time to reboot and refocus. I have mostly stuck to my commitment to avoid adding new clutter. Even so, I’m seeing new opportunities to say goodbye to things I just wasn’t ready to part with in 2021.
Every Friday throughout 2024, I’ll refresh and republish one of my weekly posts from 2021 with any new tips and learnings. Then, I’ll recap my weekly progress in The Sunday Spark.
Let’s keep in touch! Join my mailing list and I’ll email you when I add a new post.

Happy new year to you and your lovely family!❣️ Yes, I’m all in for this challenge as I’ve been looking for something like that because I had no idea where to start from. Let’s do this all together. I’m really excited!😊
Thank you. Happy New Year to you too. We will clear the clutter in 2024!
I’m excited that you are doing this challenge again!
It will be interesting to see how much more stuff I can get rid of this time around. Even though I have been really diligent about not buying any more stuff, I’m still seeing lots of opportunities.
I will absolutely be joining you with some decluttering!
Yes! I’m looking forward to getting back at it!
I don’t know that I’ll be able to join in every week (some of your clutter categories aren’t my issue), but I hope to follow along at least one week a month.
That’s great! I hope you’ll find it useful.
I will be following along as you usually have a hint or 5 that I haven’t thought about for some time Michelle! Living in such a small space I am almost always decluttering 😉 If something new comes in, something old has to go out!
I’ve been doing the one-in-one-out thing too, Deb but for some reason I feel like I have more clutter than I did after I did the challenge the first time, even though I don’t have any more stuff. Maybe my clutter tolerance is lower than it was.
Oh, I like that idea- that we can reframe our brains to accept less once we see what we really need. I think that’s really true and it’s surprising to many when they realize just how much extraneous stuff they have and don’t use or need.
I’d love to join in–but my schedule is jammed and my clutter spaces look different than yours. I might be on the once a month plan (at least once a month, declutter a space with you).
That’s a good plan!
Woohoo! Looking forward to your series. 😉
Thanks Vicki. I need to get back at it!
Oh….me, too! xo! 🥰
My goal is ten items a week, realizing that some weeks might have twenty things while others have 2…
That’s a great goal!
