For many years, I’ve had a goal of 10,000 steps a day. I’d been slacking a bit with my daily walks this winter, so in February I added a step target to my fitness goals. When I fell short on steps despite keeping up with my daily workouts, I decided to do a little research into the science behind the magic number 10,000.
The Sunday Spark – A suitcase of memories
A few weeks ago, I bought a new carry-on suitcase to replace one I’d been travelling with for over 20 years. As I prepare to retire my old blue suitcase, I fondly remembered the places we travelled together.
In addition to my suitcase of memories, this week’s edition of The Sunday Spark, looks at Earth Overshoot Day, banning fossil fuel advertising, electric vehicle economics, and decluttering purses and bags.
Decluttering challenge – Week 11 – Purses & bags
It’s week 11 of the 52-Week Decluttering Challenge. We’re almost at the end of our closet clear-out.

February 2024 roundup – Great reads and goals update
March is here, so the strange winter of 2024 is almost over. I’m excited for spring, but I’m sure winter won’t let us get off quite this easily. The powerful environmental impact of small changes
The Climate Change Collective is an initiative where the blogging community unites behind a common goal. In the most recent post in the series, Molly from Transatlantic Notes discusses why climate action doesn’t need to be perfect. This aligns perfectly with my philosophy around the environmental impact of small changes.
The Sunday Spark – What do green dresses and earworms have in common?
As I was out shopping for a green dress this week, an earworm found its way into my head. If you’re Canadian and old enough to remember the 1990s, you’ll know exactly what song I’m referring to.
In this week’s Sunday Spark, I delve into the phenomenon of earworms. Plus, a look at the math behind leap years, eco-friendly eyewear, China’s progress with renewable energy, and decluttering shoes.
