Seasonal favourites – Beloved Christmas jewellery

Only a few days to go now until the big day. Today, I wrap up this year’s seasonal favourites posts with a look at few pieces of my beloved Christmas jewellery.

I’m a big fan of costume jewellery. Over the years, I’ve accumulated quite a large collection of Christmas earrings and pins. Some of the pieces have sentimental value. Others I bought to match a specific outfit. But most of them are just an inexpensive and whimsical way of adding a festive touch to any outfit.

I look forward to the first of December every year so I can start wearing my Christmas jewellery.

Here’s a photo of part of my collection. Do any of these pieces catch your eye?

Now, let’s have a look at some of my favourite pieces of beloved Christmas jewellery.

Mickey Mouse snowman pin

I’m a Disney lover! On one of our Disney trips, I picked up this Mickey Mouse snowman pin. I just love the cute Mickey Mouse buttons. It’s special to me because I didn’t buy it the first time I saw it. When I went back to get it, it was gone. Luckily, I found one a few days later so I snapped it up.

This pin is part of my larger Disney pin collection. On our first Disney Cruise, we discovered pin trading. Between my daughters and I, we have a lot of pins. Although I’m not a huge fan of collectibles, every one of these pins brings back a precious vacation memory.

Santa cat earrings

I have a lot of Christmas earrings so it’s hard to pick a favourite pair. As a cat lover, I think I’d put these at the top of the list. I have a pin to match.

Angel pin

Last but not least, this angel pin is the one piece of Christmas jewellery that I’ve always said I’d never part with because it was given to me by my daughters when they were small. It always reminds me of them—my two little angels.

Sadly, a few days after I wrote and scheduled this post, I lost the pin. It was on my coat, and the clasp must have broken. When I realized it was gone, I searched high and low with no success. I was so upset.

So, I did what Catholics do when we lose something of value, I said a prayer to St. Anthony—the patron saint of lost things.

Last Sunday, while I was at mass, I said another prayer to St. Anthony, although I had pretty much lost hope by that point. When I got home and got out of my car, I looked down and there was the pin on the lawn at the edge of the driveway. It was a beautiful day and the warm sun had melted the snow revealing the treasure underneath.

I was so happy to find it. I took it inside and washed it off. The small angel’s wing had broken off but otherwise, the pin was no worse for wear.

Not wanting to lose it again, I have given it a new home hanging from the rearview mirror of my car. Now these angels can watch over me wherever I go.

Although none of these pieces are particularly valuable in a financial sense, they mean a lot to me so I’ll be keeping them around. And, now I am saying prayers of thanks to St. Anthony for bringing my beloved angel pin back to me.

  1. I loved reading your little story about how you lost and found your angel pin! I love how you have repurposed it to keep it safe and in constant use.

I have a big jewelry collection, though it is not necessarily Christmas themed, so I enjoyed getting a peek into your festive accessories. The snowflake earrings are perfect to jazz up any holiday outfit!

I'd love to hear your ideas. Drop me a comment below.
