Clutter Tales – Valuable life lessons from a sticker pad (Guest post)

Welcome to Volume 3 of Clutter Tales, a series where we tell the stories of our lives through our clutter. Today, I’m excited to share the first guest post in the series. This post comes from the wonderful Olivia who shares the memories and life lessons that a simple sticker pad rekindled for her.

Olivia’s Clutter Tale – Sticker pad

As a child I often found myself saving important things for a later date. Only now, as an adult, I realised this when I found an old sticker pad I got when I was a child. I can’t quite remember how and when I found it, but when I did it brought back a very specific memory for me.

Page of colourful glittery stickers with teddy bears

I remember the day I received this pad of stickers. They were pink, with bears on them and they had my name on them. I remember this so clearly because I was so excited. I knew I had to cherish them. I was so careful with not using too many or wasting them. So careful that I must have hidden a page of them for later. And that’s when I found them, over 10 years later.

Seeing this sticker page brought back so many memories for me. Not only did I remember the day I got them, but I remember how important they were to me. And even today, it’s nearly a whole sticker page with only 2 stickers missing, ones that I must have used.

It sounds silly, but finding this sticker page really helped to put things into perspective.

If you look after the things you care about, they will last. And I apply this to life today. If you look after your friendships, your home, your body, your mind and soul, then they will last too. They’ll still be there 10 years later, because you cherished them and made sure they were safe.

Whilst I was shopping recently, I noticed a sticker book with my nephew’s name on it. I decided to buy it. In hopes my little sweet nephew learns the same lesson I did.

    1. Thanks Helen. These Clutter Tales are so sweet. I am really enjoying reading and sharing them. It turns out we all find these treasures when cleaning and decluttering!

  1. This is so sweet! I would have cherished this sticker sheet as a child as well. I love that finding things in our clutter can bring back such fond memories and remind us of important things in life 🙂

    1. I know! I absolutely love reading everyone’s stories. I have found so many things in my decluttering that made me stop and remember different times, or different people.

  2. This reminded me of the paper doll clothes that stuck to the doll. Sometimes it is the little things we remember that makes us appreciate the rest.

    1. Oh I used to love playing with those paper dolls when I was a girl. You’re right! The simplest of things are the ones we often appreciate the most.

  3. Love this post! A great idea with the stickers! So true to not only take care of our things, but our minds and body as well. I truly believe that having less clutter and chaos is a huge part of that too.

I'd love to hear your ideas. Drop me a comment below.
