Monthly roundup – 7 fabulous February blog posts

As we say good-bye to February, there’s a sense of hope and anticipation in the air! It has been a long, hard winter so I’m excited for warmer weather as spring approaches. In Ontario, we’re finally seeing the end of some pandemic restrictions, so I’m hopeful for better times ahead. Although I felt like I didn’t spend as much time reading blogs last month, I did identify 7 fabulous February blog posts to share with you.

This monthly roundup is my way of saying thank you to the blogging community, and featuring some of my favourite bloggers who regularly put out funny, inspiring and informative content.

So grab your favourite hot beverage and take a few minutes to read these posts. I’m sure you’ll love them. And don’t forget to explore some of the other content from these bloggers and give them a follow.

Coming up on Boomer Eco Crusader in March

My Simple Living Sunday series continues to be popular so look for more this month. I’m so glad you’re enjoying my reflections! Also in March, I’ll have some content to mark Earth Hour and World Recycling Day.

As I approach three full years of blogging, I’m also going to start refreshing and republishing some of my early blog posts. My newer readers likely haven’t seen these posts, so it’s a chance to add some current information and share them with a new audience.

Let’s keep in touch! Join my mailing list and I’ll email you when I add a new post.

One way to address children’s schoolwork clutter – Happily Decluttered

Kids grow so fast and it’s nice to look back on some of their schoolwork years later. But how much do you keep? In this post, Suzanne shares her system for dealing with this area of sentimental clutter that’s a struggle for many.

Young kids learn so much every day, and I believe it is essential to let them know that learning is fundamental and exciting. However, it is unrealistic and unnecessary to keep everything.

Misconceptions about depression – Michelle’s Clutter Box

If prayer cures depression, does that mean those who aren’t cured aren’t worthy of God’s love? Michelle takes on this big question in this thought-provoking post.

Personally, I don’t think depression is something to be ashamed of or to pray away, but it’s something that gives you compassion for other people going through it as well or other tough times.

Stand out or blend in? – Mike Powell

Sometimes you just need a mental break from all the chaos in the world. Mike’s photos deliver that for me every day. Check out his blog for some peace and serenity courtesy of nature—and Mike’s photography skills. This one featured my favourite bird—the northern cardinal.

Is it better to stand out and be seen or to blend in and remain invisible? As with so many life questions, the answer to my simple query is complicated and depends on your personality, priorities, and perspectives.

Black health and wellness: Racism in the medical field – Unwanted Life

This informative post presents some shocking facts about the systemic racism and discrimination that exists in the medical field.

The problem isn’t just about representation, it’s also dangerous. People have died because medical professionals don’t know how to recognise symptoms in people with dark skin.

5 heart-warming reasons why performing acts of kindness is good for you – Jasperden Health

The world definitely needs a big helping of kindness these days. In this post, Rachel explores the health benefits of kindness.

I like the idea of performing random acts of kindness because when we perform them, there’s usually no other motive than to help the recipient; our egos are barely involved.

This is how you become an inauthentic blogger – Stuart Danker

This post made me laugh out loud because I have seen all of these things in the blogging world. Stuart provides some great tips on keeping it real, and remaining true to yourself!

If you don’t have any substantial product (or content) on offer, then perhaps dial down on the newsletter pop-ups. That’s like talking about having children on a first date. Maybe let’s get to know each other first.

  1. What a great collection of posts from this past month. Thanks for including me. My favorite this month is probably the post from Stuart. I always enjoy getting a notification that he published a new post because I know that I’m in for a few laughs!

    1. You’re very welcome Suzanne. Yes, Stuart’s post definitely made me laugh out loud—especially the part about “mind-blowing” headlines. It’s so true. I try to write compelling headlines without being a big phoney. LOL

  2. Thanks, Michelle, for including my posting is your list. Nature serves as a refuge and an inspiration for me. As the posting that you selected shows, my photos are often jumping off points for a brief discussion of issues that are percolating in my brain and in my heart. I love the way that our blogs help us to create our own little communities, even though the members are far apart geographically.

    1. My pleasure Mike. As I have said before, I love your posts and photos, especially when you prompt us to think and reflect. Thanks for providing my daily dose of inspiration!

I'd love to hear your ideas. Drop me a comment below.
