September is here and my favourite season is just around the corner. Along with a summary of my writing activity last month, my August 2025 blog roundup has terrific posts on what we can learn about simple living from a camping trip, letting go of anger and bitterness, and not letting the world fill our time.
Happy reading!

Cool things I read in August
Since publishing my first monthly roundup at the end of 2020, it has been an honour to introduce you to some of my favourite bloggers. I started the roundup to say thank you to the blogging community and bring attention to talented writers who create inspiring and informative content.
Here are 3 pieces that captured my attention in August.
Camping with almost nothing and realizing it’s enough – A Sustainably Simple Life
In this terrific post, Krista shares learnings from her family’s camping trip on Vancouver Island’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. And she provides some excellent tips to kickstart your decluttering efforts. It inspired me to try something new. More to come!
While camping with very minimal possessions, I was clearly feeling how much time I had reclaimed from usual household chores, many of those tasks related to management of ‘stuff’.

Endings and Beginnings – Waking Up on the Wrong Side of 50
In this post, LA provides an important reminder of the burden anger and bitterness places on us. It’s best just to let it go.
We talk of closure, but isn’t this what closure amounts to: just accepting that what passed has passed, and that we all do things we regret along with the good and the great things, but at the end of the day, how much hurt do we want to carry on with us?

The World Will Fill Your Time – Retired and Now What
September is an opportunity to refocus on your goals. This terrific post from Caroline is a reminder that we need to be intentional on how we spend our days.
This is MY time on earth that the world is filling for me! While it’s true that none of us have control over how much time we get, by drifting through my days, I’m giving up a valuable resource.
