What does your fitness routine look like? If it doesn’t include regular balance training, you’ll want to take a look at a post I published on my retirement coaching site last week. The post shares some of my favourite balance exercise videos.
The role of balance in healthy aging
If you follow my monthly goals update, you know I added balance improvement sessions to my regular fitness routine in the middle of 2024. Maintaining and improving balance is an element of fitness we often overlook as we focus on cardio and strength training.
Visit my Second Life Vision blog to learn the important role balance plays in preventing falls and promoting healthy aging. You’ll also find a selection of balance exercise videos from some of my favourite YouTube channels that provide fitness content for adults over 50.

I really need to work on my balance and general flexibility and I hadn’t thought to look for videos to help with this! I like the selection to try out here, very useful. The 15-minute one sounds particularly good, I will have to try it out!
Thanks Molly. I see that Fabulous 50s just added a new balance video this week. Here’s another one to add to your playlist: https://youtu.be/Bo3BzkTmVDE?si=evcmL_1er0nFlkrM
A great suggestion to add balance exercises to our days 🙂
Thanks, Dave. It really is an important element of fitness that is often overlooked.
I have various videos saved that highlight balance and flexibility. I really need to start using them. I want them to be like my walking routine- the realization of what I’m missing on the days that I don’t walk 😉
Once you get to know some of the exercises, you can squeeze them in anytime. I often do balance work while I watch TV in the evenings.
I’ve been doing PT for my knee. The first exercise he gave me was for balance….
That’s good to hear. Balance really is important.
