Simple Living Sunday – Hello from Colorado Springs

Hello everyone! This week’s Simple Living Sunday post is coming to you from beautiful Colorado Springs. As I mentioned last week, I’m travelling the next couple of weekends so I’ll be taking a break from my usual Sunday posts.

Today, in addition to my three simple pleasures and highlights of the past week, I’ll share some photos of Colorado Springs. Then, I’ll wrap up with three of my favourite quotes about the joy of simple living.

Three simple pleasures and highlights

Rocky stream surrounded by green trees

Continuing my practice of celebrating the simple things in life, here are three simple pleasures and highlights of the last week.

  • On Tuesday evening after our rehearsal, a few of us went out to a local patio for beer and wings. I missed this kind of socializing during the pandemic.
  • Wednesday morning, we had three visitors to our garden. Three raccoons. They were cute, although a little mischievous.
  • I arrived safely in Colorado Springs on Friday evening. On Saturday morning after breakfast, I sat on a bench and read my book and enjoyed this view.

The beauty of Colorado Springs

Also known as Olympic City, USA, Colorado Springs is Colorado’s second largest city. Located about 90 miles south of Denver, it’s on the eastern edge of the Southern Rocky Mountains.

I’m here for a work-related trip so I won’t have the opportunity to get out and explore the area too much, but I did snap a few pictures on my Saturday morning walkabout.

Three quotes about simple living

Finally, before I go, I’ll leave you with three quotes about simple living.

There’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them.

Forget about the money for a moment. Lose yourself in the wilderness, listen to the music of the softly blowing winds, feel the rain on your bare skin, let the mountains take the burden off your shoulders.

Given the challenges we’re seeing in airports around the world lately, this quote about baggage seemed to be an appropriate metaphor.

Simplicity is making the journey of this life with just baggage enough.

I hope you enjoyed this little break from my usual Simple Living Sunday posts. If you did, watch for next weekend’s post from the wonderful city of Toronto.

What simple pleasures did you enjoy this week? Tell me about them below.

Hi there! I’m Michelle and I live in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. I am married with two young adult daughters. I’m a big fan of reducing waste, using less plastic, decluttering and simplifying life as much as possible.

  1. Breathtaking photos, Michelle! So glad you were able to get away for a bit, even if it is a work trip! Looks like you had gorgeous weather!

I’ve been doing a lot of reading this month so it’s been so great just turning off my phone and concentrating on the words in front of me!!

    1. Thanks Jen. Yes, it was great to get away. It was a nice mix of fun and work. I managed to read two books in July. It is so relaxing. I need to do more of it.

I'd love to hear your ideas. Drop me a comment below.
