May 21 is World Meditation Day—a day set aside for everyone to clear their minds and embrace a practice that has been around for thousands of years. Many people swear by meditation but, for some of us with overactive minds, it can end up being more about frustration than relaxation. Fortunately, there are alternatives to meditation to help you destress.
Simple Living Sunday – The blessing of having just enough
The world conditions us never to be satisfied with what we have. Every day, we hear that the key to happiness lies with the next purchase—that new pair of shoes, a shiny new car, or a big house to impress our friends. Today, I continue my May Simple Living Sunday tribute to qualities I admire in my mum, with a look at being satisfied with the blessing of having just enough.
Simple Living Sunday – Wisdom and knowledge are not the same
It’s Mother’s Day in North America. Greetings to all the moms out there! I hope your day is filled with love, joy and laughter. Many of us would describe our moms as wise. Simple Living Sunday – Caring for others as a form of self care
And just like that, it’s May! In North America, May is a big month for moms as we celebrate Mother’s Day. In honour of my mum, I chose five Simple Living Sunday themes for May that remind me of her. Clutter Tales – Let’s revive printed photos!
Welcome to Volume 20 of Clutter Tales, a series where we tell the stories of our lives through our clutter. Today’s Clutter Tale is one of mine and it was inspired by a set of film negatives discovered during one of my decluttering sprees. It made me realize that, even in our digital age, printed photos are still the best way to preserve memories and family history for future generations.
Simple Living Sunday – Pay it forward with kindness
“Kindness costs nothing.” I remember my dad saying those words often when I was growing up. Sadly though, while that statement may be true, kindness seems to be a rare quality in our world these days. To mark Global Pay It Forward Day on April 28, this week’s theme for Simple Living Sunday is Kindness.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate! The Easter season is often referred to as joyful, but what is joy? Is it just a simple emotion? Or is it a habit you can cultivate to increase your wellbeing? Read on to learn more about joy, and how you can get more of it in your life.
Simple Living Sunday – Laughter is the best medicine
Life is serious—too serious most of the time! This week on Simple Living Sunday, we’re lightening the mood and talking about laughter. My goal for this week is to prove the old saying that laughter is the best medicine. Are you ready to laugh your troubles away?
Simple Living Sunday – Finding peace in acceptance
When something doesn’t go how you want it to, what’s your first instinct? If you’re like many people, you’ll dig in and fight to make things the way you want them. But, doing battle takes a ton of energy and rarely changes the outcome. This week’s Simple Living Sunday theme is acceptance. I’m not talking about giving up, but rather knowing when it’s time to make peace with a situation and move on.
Simple Living Sunday – Boost your optimism
Do you consider yourself to be more of an optimist or a pessimist? World events in recent years have made it difficult for even the most optimistic among us not to sink into the depths of fear and despair. Today’s Simple Living Sunday post looks at ways to boost optimism and approach each day with a more positive outlook.
