This is it. The day is here. Later tonight, my daughter Laura will board a plane in Vancouver on the way to her new life in Australia. A hundred years ago, her great grandparents set out on a similar voyage and that’s the topic for today’s Throwback Thursday post.
With multiple flights and 24 hours of travel, the journey to Australia feels harrowing by today’s standards. In contrast, however, my grandparents’ voyage by sea to Australia in the 1920s took several weeks.
Learn more about my grandparents’ adventures on their way to a new life in Australia in this post from 2021. It’s one of my favourite pieces from the Clutter Tales series, inspired by something I found when cleaning out my night table drawers.
