And just like that, September is well underway. Summer seemed to fly by faster than ever. Read on for my August 2026 goals report and a look ahead at my goals for September.
August 2026 goals report
Going into August, I set lighter goals recognizing the first half of the month would be focused on family time while Laura and Colleen were home. Let’s look at how August went.

Fitness goals
My goal for August was to average 10,000 steps a day along with 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions each week.
I fell short of my steps goal with an average of 9,285 steps a day for the month. I also took a break from my workouts while the girls were home, but did get my 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions in during the last two weeks of the month.
Health goals
My goal for August was to maintain the goal weight that I achieved in July. Between my break from workouts and lots of good food and family gatherings, I fell just short—gaining a pound in August.
Reading
My reading goal for August was 5 books. I exceeded that with 6 books read, plus 1 audiobook, for a total of 7. Here’s what I read this month.
- The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
- Rainbow Valley by L.M. Montgomery (Audiobook)
- Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden
- The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece by Tom Hanks
- The Divorce by Freida McFadden
- Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery
- The Day After the Party by Nicole Trope

My September goals
So August ended up being a mixed month. That’s okay. September is a great month to get back on track. Here’s what I have planned for September.
- Fitness: I want to get back to my goal of 400 minutes of physical activity, including walks, and 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions each week.
- Health: Lose that pesky pound to get back to my goal weight.
- Reading: I’ve increased my goal to 6 books in September.
- Intentional living: 4 Tidy-Up Tuesday blitzes
- Retirement coaching: Prepare a launch plan and schedule my new Retirement Uncluttered workshop.
