November 2022 roundup of outstanding blog posts

As I sit down to write my November 2022 roundup, it doesn’t seem possible there are just three weeks left in 2022. The holiday season is in full swing, and my head is already full of blogging ideas and other plans for next year. But first, I’ve got six fantastic November blog posts to share with you.

This month’s roundup features posts that discuss clutter-free gift ideas, appreciating our differences, social media detox, Advent calendar inspiration, parenting, and the practice of peace.

50 clutter-free gift ideas for the holiday season – Mind Beauty Simplicity

Christmas is coming and those who know me well know I am a big fan of consumable and experience gifts. This post has 50 ideas for everyone on your list.

As I’m learning more about intentional living, I’ve been understanding my priorities & what holds more value. For me, I find so much joy in gifting experiences & spending time with others.

Appreciating the differences – Crisbie Coach

Here’s a new face in the monthly roundup. I connected with Cristiana through the Climate Change Collective. This inspiring post is a reminder of how our embracing our differences makes us all better.

Differences when they become obstacles take away the opportunity to broaden our consciousness and enrich collective intelligence, where 1 + 1 equals 3.

Social Media Detox – What I Learned from No Social Media for 100 Days – Hello Brownlow

And another new face! Amanda did a social media detox that lasted 100 days. Reading about her experience just might lead you to rethink your relationship with the online world.

But every single day, I was bombarded with ads and videos showing me how to make my life like someone else’s life. … I was no longer content with my own life.

Advent calendar activities 2022 – Smelly Socks and Garden Peas

I always enjoy Smell’s Advent calendar posts and the creative and fun activities she plans for her boys. You’ll want to save this post for next year!

But in the interests of not buying tat or lots of unrecyclable stuff that won’t get used, I’ve stopped all that. Instead, we have a treat each day. Some of them are quick and easy to fit around school and evening activities. Some are a bit more involved.

Raising humans from scratch – Lovely Lucid Life

And, yet another new face in my monthly roundup, this beautiful and insightful post offers a whole new perspective on nature vs. nurture, and provides tips on what parents can do to help with the “baking process”.

The day our children are born, it’s as though we have been handed the ingredients to bake a delicious cake; maybe angel food, or vanilla with chocolate frosting or perhaps an ice cream cake. But just because we’ve been given those ingredients doesn’t mean the cake is going to to bake itself. We need to help combine those ingredients, cook them gently and at the appropriate temperature and when the time is right open up the oven and see what kind of yummy creation has been made.

The practice of peace – The Thoughtful Beggar

Finally, as we head into the holiday season, Eric’s reflection on peace is a thoughtful read. It’s a powerful reminder that the things we pursue in life are often at odds with finding peace.

In many ways the idea of peace is at odds with our modern world which praises money and power above everything. Those unfortunately are arguably the top two pursuits that rob us of a true and lasting contentment.

Which of these posts did you enjoy the most? Tell me about it below.

Hi there! I’m Michelle and I live in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. I am married with two young adult daughters. I’m a big fan of reducing waste, using less plastic, decluttering and simplifying life as much as possible.

      1. They mostly repeat ideas from previous years. I was telling my friends about it yesterday and they were horrified as though I’m some sort of evil super mum. When I explained that it was stuff like a TV tea they conceded that I’m a genius.

  1. Thank you Michelle for ideas and suggestions to put more life into our lives. I think a large percentage of people might have an anxiety attack for even suggesting the idea of social media detox! 100 days seems a bit excessive but will open a door to self discovery. I vote for a week of not watching the News and leave the TV off in my house! That’s Peace!

    1. Yes, 100 days is a long time. Some people can’t be off social media for 100 minutes. LOL Yes, a news-free week with no TV would be just fine by me, too. My husband, on the other hand, might not make it.

I'd love to hear your ideas. Drop me a comment below.
