It’s time for a May 2026 goals report

June is here and it appears warmer weather may have arrived to stay here in southern Ontario. Read on for my May 2026 goals report and a look at my goals for June.

May 2026 goals report

May was a busy month for travel. I was away from home for 14 of the 31 nights, and there wasn’t a single week when I was home all 7 nights. As a result, my goals for the month looked a little different than usual. Let’s look at how the month went.

Fitness goals

Since I was away from home quite a bit, I took a different approach for May, focusing on steps instead of my usual workouts. I exceeded my goal of an average of 9,000 steps a day. I averaged over 9,400 steps a day. Considering we had 4 long days of driving during our vacation, I was pleased with my result.

Health goals

I set a goal to lose 3 more pounds to reach my goal weight, knowing full well that travel might make that difficult. What was I thinking?

Although I tried to be good, I indulged in a lot of delicious seafood during our trip to the east coast, not to mention that wonderful Cows ice cream. I ended the month with a gain of just one pound. Not too bad all things considered.

Reading

My reading goal for May was 5 books. I exceeded that with 6 books read. Here’s what I read in May.

  • The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown
  • The Teacher by Freida McFadden
  • Killing Kelly by Heather Graham
  • The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
  • Everyone Here is Lying by Shari Lapena
  • Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

Intentional living

I met my goal of continuing with Tidy-Up Tuesdays during the weeks I’m home, with 3 Tuesday decluttering blitzes.

Retirement coaching

I met both of my retirement coaching goals. The outline for my new Retirement: Uncluttered workshop is done. And I finished the first two modules of the revised Certified Professional Retirement Coach course.

My June goals

June is sandwiched between two busy months, so it’s my chance to get back on track with my goals. Here’s what I have planned for this month.

  • Fitness: Now that summer weather is here, I’m increasing my goal to 400 minutes of physical activity a week (including walks), along with 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions each week.
  • Health: I’d love to put my weight loss goal in the books by the end of June, so I’ve set a goal to lose the last 4 pounds to reach my goal weight.
  • Reading: I’m again aiming for 5 books in June.
  • Intentional living: Complete 4 Tidy-Up Tuesday decluttering blitzes.
  • Retirement coaching:
    • Complete the first draft of materials for my new workshop.
    • Read the next 4 modules of the revised Certified Professional Retirement Coach course.
    • Plan my promotional activities for the Retirement Coaches Association book release—targeted for early July.

Hi there! I’m Michelle and I live in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. I am married with two young adult daughters. I’m a big fan of reducing waste, using less plastic, decluttering and simplifying life as much as possible.

    1. It was! I was inspired to read it when I saw it sitting on Colleen’s bookshelf while I was there. I had just finished another book so I thought it was an appropriate one to dive into during my vacation. There was something special about reading it while I was on PEI.

I'd love to hear your ideas. Drop me a comment below.
