It’s my March 2026 goals update

How is it possible that the first quarter of 2026 is in the books? It feels like we just celebrated Christmas and now Easter is behind us and we’re looking ahead to spring. Today’s post has my March 2026 goals update and a preview of my April goals.

March 2026 goals update

After a busy month in February, March was a month to get caught up and back on track. Let’s look at how the month went.

Colour coded goals report for March 2026

Fitness goals

Hoping for nicer weather, I set a goal of 25 outdoor walks for the month. Other than a couple of days of fool’s spring early in the month, the weather did not cooperate. I ended up with 14 outdoor walks.

Despite missing my walking goal, I’m happy that I met my overall fitness goal of 350 minutes a week, along with 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions each week.

Health goals

My Lenten junk food ban continued throughout March. I successfully limited chocolate, candy and chips to one treat a week on Sundays.

Cutting out the junk food helped me to lose 7 pounds in total this month, exceeding my weight loss goal of 5 pounds.

Reading

After a slow reading month in February, my reading goal for March was 6 books. I did it! Here’s what I read in March:

  • John Candy, A Life in Comedy by Paul Myers
  • The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon
  • Still Life by Louise Penny
  • Essential by Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus
  • Scarcity Brain by Michael Easter
  • A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult

Writing

I completed the first round of edits for my chapter for the Retirement Coaches Association book.

Intentional living

My 2026 decluttering progress continues. Since there were five Tuesdays in March, I exceeded my goal of four 15-minute decluttering blitzes.

My April goals

Will spring finally come to stay in April? I’m counting on it. Here are my goals for April:

  • Fitness:
    • As I work back up to 400 minutes a week, I’m increasing my goal to 375 minutes of physical activity a week (including walks), along with 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions each week.
    • I’m banking on better weather so I’ve again set a goal of 25 walks for the month.
  • Health:
    • Lent is over, but I want to continue being mindful about candy, chips and chocolate. My goal is to limit myself to one small treat a day.
    • After taking a break over the Easter weekend, I’m working on my weight loss goal again. My goal for April is to lose 4 pounds.
  • Reading: I’m aiming for 5 books in April.
  • Intentional living: Continue with Tidy-Up Tuesdays and complete 4 decluttering blitzes.
  • Retirement coaching: I have an idea for a new workshop, so I want to scope that out this month.

  1. This year sure is flying by. Easter is already in the can!

I’ve been revisiting John Candy’s films recently, with the passing of Catherine O’Hara. He was another Canadian giant gone far too soon.

    1. Candy truly was a legend. If you’re a fan, you’d really enjoy his biography. It was a reminder of his comedic genius and kind and caring nature.

  2. After the Easter festivities, its usually difficult to get back to healthy habits. But consistency will always win over speed or longer hours of exercise. You are doing awesome Michelle!

    1. It was such a wonderful read, Pete. In addition to his comedic genius, I always thought of him as a wonderful and caring man. The book confirmed that. He was always looking out for other and everyone he met had good things to say about him.

  3. Nice work across the board! When did you think of The Frozen River? I read that in book club last year and really enjoyed it.

    1. Thanks Erin. I’m a big lover of historical fiction so I really enjoyed The Frozen River. I’m working on my Q1 reading update and it made my top 5.

I'd love to hear your ideas. Drop me a comment below.
