And just like that we’re halfway through 2026! This year is flying by way too quickly. Read on for my June 2026 goals report and a look at my goals for July.

June 2026 goals report
After a busy travel month in May, June gave me a chance to get back on track with my goals. Let’s look at how the month went.

Fitness goals
The weather in June was much more like summer, so I increased my goal to 400 minutes of physical activity a week (including walks). I got into the habit of taking a long walk every morning and a shorter walk in the evening, so I crushed this one with an average of 494 minutes a week for the month.
I also met my goal of 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions each week.
Health goals
I really wanted to put my weight loss goal in the books by the end of June. I lost 3 pounds, just short of my goal to lose the last 4 pounds to reach my goal weight.
Reading
My reading goal for June was 5 books. I exceeded that with 7 books read, plus 2 audiobooks, for a total of 9. Here’s what I read this month.
- Ward D by Freida McFadden
- All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
- The Only One Left by Riley Sager
- Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery (Audiobook)
- One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand
- Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery (Audiobook)
- Celestial Lights by Cecile Pin
- Slivers by Vicki Atkinson
Intentional living
I met my goal of continuing with Tidy-Up Tuesdays, with 4 Tuesday decluttering blitzes.
Retirement coaching
- Complete the first draft of materials for my new workshop. DONE
- Read the next 4 modules of the revised Certified Professional Retirement Coach course. 7 modules completed
- Plan my promotional activities for the Retirement Coaches Association book release—targeted for early July. DONE

Mid-year progress report
As we hit the halfway point of the year, I feel good about the progress I’ve made on my 2026 theme of health. I’ve lost some weight, increased my strength, and done a lot of walking (when the weather cooperated). I successfully gave up chips, candy and chocolate for Lent and I’m doing well with eating more fruits and vegetables.

My Goodreads 2026 reading challenge goal is 70 books. At this point, I’m 3 books ahead of schedule.
For my writing projects, I completed my chapter for the upcoming Retirement Coaches Association book and we should have a release date soon. I haven’t made any headway on what I’m calling my “wisdom project” but hope to do some work on it in the second half of the year.
When we went to the east coast in May, there was still snow in Newfoundland, so we decided to visit Nova Scotia instead.
Overall, 2026 is off to a good start. We’ll see what the rest of the year brings.
My July goals
Despite falling just short of my weight loss goal, I’m delighted with how well June went on the goals front. Here’s what I have planned for July.
- Fitness: I’m enjoying my long morning walks so I’m aiming for an average of 10,000 steps a day for July. I recently subscribed to the Over Fifty Fitness platform, so I’m going to try out some of their no-equipment travel workouts while I’m away visiting Laura. On the weeks I’m home, I’ll continue to target 2 strength training and 3 balance/flexibility sessions each week.
- Health: I’d love to draw a line under my weight loss goal this month, so I’ve set a goal to lose that last pound to reach my goal weight.
- Reading: I’m again aiming for 5 books in July.
- Intentional living: Finish clearing out Laura’s room when she’s home.
- Retirement coaching:
- Complete the slides for the workshop I’m delivering in New Orleans this fall.
- Promote the Retirement Coaches Association book (pending confirmation of release date).
